李三寶教授
San-Pao Li, Ph. D.
Professor Emeritus at California State University, Long Beach
李三寶教授自一九六七年來美執教,曾任教於美國哈佛大學,哥倫比亞大學,加州大學等數間高等學府。藉教育傳播我中華文化,凡四十寒暑,耕耘無間。其對推行國際教育與文化交流之功績可謂斐然。桃李天下,享譽國際學術界與藝文界。
主要研究領域為中國近代思想史,其有關十九世紀改革思想家康有為之著作曾刊載於中央研究院近代史研究所集刊及清華學報等多種重要學術出版刊物,為思想史學界極為重視之研究成果。李教授於一九八六年膺選為長堤加州州大三位【傑出教授】之一,並於一九九六年再膺選為全校兩位【傑出教學獎】得獎人之一。
四、五十年來參與義務華裔社區文教工作可謂廢寢忘食,以傳揚我中華文化為己任。而其影響最為深遠者之一為在華裔文史協會擔任主席任內所大力主持完成之【中華文化寶藏】巡迴展覽計劃。此項重要文物巡迴展自一九八八年開始已在加州橙縣七百餘間中小學輪流展出,對增進美國少年自幼對中華文化之正確了解與欣賞貢獻至鉅。同時,李教授於擔任南加州華裔教授會長任內,奉獻其精神心力於該會之發展,功績亦尤為深遠。
自一九七九年,中美建交之後,李教授應美國國務院之禮聘,擔任高級外交翻譯十餘年。曾擔任卡特總統、舒茲國務卿、及美國各部部長之官方翻譯。中英文及中美文化等領域皆有極深之認識與造詣。
在一九九O年代潛心探索高新科技在漢語教學中的運用並研發出版了多媒體互動式中文教學電腦軟體光碟片兩種:【漢語發音與拼音】(Pinyin Master: Interactive Tutorial of Mandarin Pronunciation and the Pinyin System, 1998) 和【利文電腦中文】(Liwin’s Cyber Chinese: Multimedia Supplement to the Practical Chinese Reader, 1999)。為全球中華語文教學開展了嶄新的局面。李教授在授課研發之餘,並致力於推展中國書法藝術及教育。一九九八年曾應邀出席馬利蘭大學舉辦的第一屆國際東亞書法教育會議,同時被遴選為書法教育推行學會會長。於公元二OOO年八月間以【中國書法:文化的縮影, 藝術的昇華】為大會主題,發表了專題演講,並主持了第二屆書法教育國際會議,極獲各界好評。
李教授於 二OO六年暑假退休,結束在美整整四十個寒暑的大學教學生涯。除了含飴弄孫,陪著五個孫輩成長之外,多半的時間都在真耶穌教會服事,並在閒暇之餘揮毫弄墨、筆歌墨舞一番,自得其樂。
